Question:
According to the current immigration law, how long is a person suppose to
stay employed with a company after he/she gets his Green Card Employment
based with the company? Is there a parole period when the company can revoke
the sponsorhip after the process is finished ?
Answer:
This is the answer I've gotten from most professionals in the field. Usually
they range from 6 months to 1 year.
The question I have boils down to experience. Has anybody actually done it ?
eg, Leaving right after they got green card, and are okay now ? or
eg, Leaving right after they got green card, and are caught or got pr taken
away from them ?
Does anybody have actual experience they like the share ?
Let's say you got five answers from people who say they quit within a
month of getting a green card, and nothing bad happened (yet). Would
that make you feel better about quitting after a month?
At which stage you can start couting for the one year period. After getting
the real GC or sooner.
The one year period would start on the date that you become a permanent
resident, that is, the date that the I-485 is approved if you chose
adjustment, or the date that you entered the U.S. with an immigrant
visa, if you chose consular immigrant visa processing.
This is not the date that you get your actual Permanent Resident Card;
the date will be printed on the PR Card.
