Question:
checking after immigration?
Answer:
my friend was granted immigration 6 months ago, and now he is
settled in canada and has a job and all.
He was on h1b in us when his
interview waiver came and was not working at that moment( just left like
a month ago). Luckily he had almost current refernce letters he
submitted to CHC, everything went fine and he was given immigration. Now
here's the tricky part.
His former US employer called and told him
that they received a call from CHC today and CHC wanted to talk to my
friends former boss (manager) who was not available and hence they said
CHC, bufalo told them that they will call back. No my friend is really
worried. I am also surprised by all this. Is this possible? Why would
they be calling now when 6 months have passed and he has settled in
canada.
It may be nothing, hopefully just some glitch in the overloaded system. Or
it may be that something has been discovered now and is being verified,
although after case is closed (landing closes immigration process) it is
rather unheard of, unless there is something what has happened after landing
what is the reason to justify it. I've seen strange things happen before...
No he didnt make any false claim/s of any
sort on his application.
He was just worried that why are they
checking now and whats the matter? I myself think its a system
glitch.
Also nothing has happened after his landing at all(which
in any way may effect the application). Only thing is that he had
break in his experience(he was on h1b) once and he is thinking all
sort of things.
What I meant by "strange things" is that in my 13 years in this business
I've seen many things - miracles happening to those who shouldn't have been
approved at all or refusals of those who had perfect cases, I've seen people
never living for more than a day in Canada after landing as PR getting their
citizenship and at the same time I've seen government coming back to review
immigration visa cases years after immigrant already became a Canadian
citizen, I've seen cases of such people having their citizenship revoked
because CIC found that their immigration application was made and PR status
was obtained fraudulently in the first place or because person didn't meet
residency obligations to keep PR status or to be eligible to apply for
citizenship but they lied in their applications anyway, etc.
So, I don't think that there can be anything what can surprise me anymore,
although I thought the same before being surprised in the past...
The only "system glitch" here would be if by some hard to explain reasons
his case hasn't been closed after he landed - but it is rather unlikely
glitch. I don't want to scare you guys here, but if I would be in your place
I would start thinking harder about every single document, information
submitted and claim made during his application process. Providing of course
that it is not just a joke made by his employer trying to scare him.
I recvd a letter from RPC, Buffalo informing me to pay my RPRF within
30 days else there might be implications. Wherelse, I had paid my RPRF
a month ago and revd the receipt of payment from them too referencing
the amount paid.
