Question:
Immigration is a source of much
heated debate. I think most reasonable
people will agree that Canada's
current immigration policies are
flawed and should be reexamined.
I also think that most reasonable
people will agree that Canada needs
some immigrants.
What do you
think Canada's immigration policy
should be? - What is an appropriate
level for immigration? 100s of immigrants,
1000s of immigrants, 100000s of
immigrants? - If we accept immigrants,
what should our priorities be? Economic?
Humanitarian (refugees)? If both,
what ratio? What about families?
Should families be allowed to accompany
immigrants? What relationships would
be considered as being "family"?
- What other criteria should we
look at? Fluency in English/French?
Cultural compatibility?
How would
you judge Cultural compatibility?
Ethnic background and/or nationality?
Education? Religion? We often see
complaints about illegal immigrants
- What can we do to prevent illegal
immigration? - What should happen
to illegal immigrants? What if they
claim to be refugees? - Should we
change our citizenship laws to prevent
children born in Canada of illegal
immigrant parents from being recognized
as citizens? - Should we require
visas for visitors? What countries?
Should we have national quotas on
legal immigrants?
What countries
should have quotas? The U.K? France?
Germany? Other EC nations? Eastern
European countries? Russia? Middle
Eastern countries? African countries?
How about Whites from Africa? India,
Pakistan etc? S.E Asian countries?
Australia, NZ? China, HK, Taiwan?
Korea? Japan? How about the Overseas
Chinese? The US? Central and South
American countries? What should
government/citizens do to help immigrants
become better Canadians?
Should immigrants
be prevented from receiving government
aid? Medical care? If there're prevented
from receiving government services
should they pay income tax? Should
we continue to allow dual citizenship?
Should naturalized citizens be stripped
of citizenship if convicted of criminal
activity? If so what types of crimes?
Please post
your opinions on the above questions.
Answer:
Definitely more East Asian immigrants.
They are the only ones bringing
money in these days and contributing
to a stronger economy. Dont bring
in lazy penniless ones. Insist on
immigrants bringing in a minmum
of $200,000. And dont give welfare
to any immigrant for 10 years. Investment
Immigrants: AYNONE with $250,000
can caome with his/her nuclear family
to canada.
The money
must be invested by buying government-issued
bonds and tied up for 10 yrs or
more. no BS investment schemes.
Family unification: If extented
family members want to come along,
$100,000 per person with the same
inverstment requirement; no welfare
for 10 yrs. Independent Immigrants:
ANYOONE WHO HAS LANDED A PERMANENT
JOB IN CANADA and is university
educated and is fluent in English
or French and is between 25-35 yrs
old can come with his /her nuclear
family to canada. Extented family
members must meet the same requirement
above. Canada needs immigrants who
can made contributions.
The above
can give canada the best and most
productive ones without the trash.
(Karen): Now anyone can see this
message is flame bait, but I would
like to ask this of our 'pro-immigration'
Toronto poster: what data do you
have to support the theory that
immigrants are contributing to a
stronger economy? I've posted, and
seen posted, many articles to the
contrary, but I've never seen one
backing your theory. Anything more
to offer than rhetoric?
On the second
issue: What does it matter how much
money an immigrant has when coming
to Canada if he places it into a
5-year investment with his immigrant
associates, doesn't place it in
Canada at all (more often the case),
or declares only what he wants to
declare, leaving Revenue Canada
with their fingers up their noses?
Now I can see where these immigrants
TAKE from Canadians: by availing
them- selves of health care to which
they never contributed, by availing
them- selves of education to which
they never contributed, by stressing
the land, water, and envronment
of Canada, and by having their multicultural
programs including very costly translation,
provided for by the taxpayers.
But I still
don't see how these immigrants 'having
a lot of money' bene- fits the averaage
working Canadian. Does the average
working Canadian benefit from a
wealthy Taiwanese or Hong Konger
buying a pricey automobile? Does
the average working Canadian benefit
from their buying enormous homes
through their own culture's realtors
from very wealthy homeowners or
from land developers? Does the average
working Canadian benefit from the
many malls built by these people
for catering to their own cultures?
Does the average working Canadian
benefit from the many cultural celebra-
tions and programs provided for
these wealthy immigrants? And if
the average working Canadian doesn't
benefit, but DOES have to pay for
their health, education, and multi-cultural
programs, then how is it exactly
that Canadians are 'benefiting'
from immigration?
How about
this for an idea.... All immigrants
to Canada must work and contribute
to the tax pile for a minimum of
10 years - possibly more if poorly
employed - BEFORE being able to
dip into free education, health,
and multicultural services? How
about we withhold CITIZENSHIP for
a minimum of 10 years until these
immigrants have proven their worth
to Canada? How about we re-evaluate
their contribution every 2 years
that they're in Canada & ship them
politely back to their originating
country if they are not in fact
'contributing'.
How about
we do ALL of our selection of immigrants
OVERSEAS - not within Canada's borders,
as was the practice in the past?
You know - entertain their applications
for immigration via Canadian embassies
around the globe, having full access
to checking their stories in their
own countries re: criminal records,
financial self-support, and being
'of good character'. How about any
'refugee' that has the money to
travel airfare to Canada from overseas,
be returned immediately, gratis
the 'humanitarian Canadians' to
their land of origin to proceed
to the nearest Canadian embassy
and apply through it?
Think of the
saving in dollars to these refugees
for the un- necessary airfare! Much
more humanitarian system. How about
we all pull our heads out of the
sand and realize that one of the
single largest drains on Canada's
economy is our totally powerless
and abused immigration system......
on the average working Canadian.
Its probably because you wish just
to ignore them and spew more of
your false propoganda.
