Question:
i have doubt whether i will qualify for australian immigration.. i'm 26
years of age and have my masters degree in chemical engineering from a
reputed institution from canada. i was working as a a research assistant in
that university for about 2 years.. so if anyone could advice on this i
would really appreciate!! ?
Answer:
Where is your undergraduate degree from? If you have an undergraduate
engineering degree from Canada as well, you can get a skills assessment
from IEAUST under the Washington Accord. This would be an extremely
fast way to do that (mine took a little over a month, and was a one-
sheet application form).
Chemical Engineer is a 60 point occupation (ASCO 2129-17), so you have
to have worked full-time (>20 hours/week) 12 out of the last 18 months
(at time of lodging visa). Not sure what the work at the university was
like, maybe someone else here has some experience with that.
Since you are 26, you get 30 points for age, and I assume 20 points for
english, which puts you at 110. You need 115 points total. Are you
married? If so, you may get additional points that way.
Please check the following thread and I hope it will help clarify some
of the doubts:

To get an extra 5 points, you may decide to take the NAATI
(www.naati.com.au) translator or interpreter test in Tamil or
any other language you are confident in. If you clear the test, you
won't need IEAust skills assessment because NAATI accreditation gives
you 65 points.
for takin time out in answering ma queries unfortunatley i

there!!! where can i apply for immigration?? do i have to go through agents
or one can file applications individually?? i got all my pay stubs for the

engineers in australia ???
