Forms specifically for changing names on passports or do you have to go through the whole process of obtaining a new one ?
Question:
Do the Australian High Commission have forms specifically for changing names on passports or do you have to go through the whole process of obtaining a new one ? We just received some forms through the post (after ringing the Australian High Commission in London) which imply that my wife has to fill in the whole form again, supply all documents again and pay that ridiculuous amount of money ... again !

Answer:
Unfortunately yes, it is not possible to alter Australian passports because of the high tech equipment used (how technology enslaves us!). Just found out that we can get the existing passport changed for free ! Apparently if we go to Australia House with new photo's, a marriage certificate and two other documents proving the new name (ie bank statement), we can get it for free. If we wanted a new 10 year passport it would have cost money, but as we would be changing the existing 10 year passport we don't need to pay !
