anyone know how he gets citizenship? |
Question:
I am Canadian, and I married an american in July, and due to American
immigration laws, have been living in the US.
However, down the road we'd like to come live in Canada again, does anyone
know how he gets citizenship?
Answer:
When you decide to return to Canada you should be able to sponsor your husband as
a family class member providing nothing has changed between now and
down the road. Your husband would have to obtain landed immigrant
status and then meet residency requirements in order to apply for
citizenship. Currently that entails becoming a permanent resident and
residing in Canada for 3 of the past 4 years and this too is due to
change in the near future.
