Student visa has less then a year on it she can not apply for immigration. Is this true?
Question:
My girl friend is here on a student Visa which expires next year. Her studies will be completed in Dec of this year. She wishes to stay either on a work permit or to file for Immigration. She thinks that because her student visa has less then a year on it she can not apply for immigration. Is this true? She is a chinese citizen.

Answer:
She can apply but has to leave the country after her student visa expires and she can only apply to a consulate of the country where she is legally allowed to live for min 1 year IN other words, she has to apply in china. You both can get married and you can sponsor her inside canada, you DONT need to be financially sound or etc to sponsor her
