Question:
Anyone knows how long it takes to get 1-485 processed in Charlotte,
NC.? I know some people who submitted I-485 late last year are still
waiting. Also, recently, Charlotte recently transfered many
applications to Southern Center at Dallas, TX. for processing. How long
it takes at Dallas? I don't understand this backlog at all in
Charlotte, considering the low number of immigrants here in NC. It used
to only take 3 months, but since late last year, the waitng time has
been skyrocketing like crazy.

My I-485 was processed in Charlotte, submitted in November 1995, interview was
held in August 1996. I don't have any further experience as far as timeing is
concerned.
I applied for citizenship in May of this year and did not hear a word
from them. So I went to Charlotte last week and found out that it is
going to take a year before they call me for an interview. There are lot
of Latin American applicants in this state working in the farms. I guess
that is what causing the problem for I485 and N400. The amazing thing is that they started
same day interview for naturalization in Sep of last year and continued
it till May of this year. They did not accept any applications by mail
during that period. The lady at the counter told me that they are
still processing June95 citizenship applications now. Any time you go there
you see half the counters are closed. I guess Charlotte is understaffed.
