California? Also tell me why you recommend this lawyer.
My husband and I are thinking of applying. We've been hearing it will
take up to 5 years at this point. Is this true?

Another suggestion -- go to: http://www.californiaspecialist.org/. Go to
"Specialist Search," and then to "Immigration and Nationality." Pick the
specialty area "Immigration" and pick the county you are interested in.
For that list of attorneys, you know that they have at least demonstrated
some competence in immigration law and practice.
For you to get a good idea of the timing of getting permanent resident
status, you must know which category you are eligible in, and you must make
some choices about certain procedures and strategies.
Well, I hear the greencard process is taking longer now and it could
be 4 years or more at this point.
