Question:
Congratulations on your approval. Although a little rocky at first, the
transition to the new photos has been worked out -- NO new photos
required for applications filed BEFORE the change.
Answer:
I recently had my AOS interview and got I-551 stamp on my passport. But
my question is that when i sent in my AOS application, 3/4 ADIT style
photos were required, but as everybody knows, they changed to passport
style photos. When I had my AOS interview done, they didn't ask any new
passport style pictures and didn't take my picture there either. I just
want to know from those people who filed AOS with 3/4 style picture and
recently had their AOS interview whether you have the same situation
like me and also from those who already got their green card, what is
the photo like on your green card?
As savy Mr F pointed you will be fine since your interview was BEFORE
the photograph changes:)
Congrats!!
As others have told you, not to worry. Huband filed for AOS in April of
2004, was approved Jan. 6 of 2005 and his card arrived soon after, with
the 3/4 style picture used. It was the same picture that he had on his
EAD card, actually!
That's interesting....Sadegh's EAD card picture was the one they took at
the biometrics appointment, not any of the ones we sent in with the
applications.
As others have said, you'll be fine due to the interview date.
Funny story with mine was, I had the new style photos and at the point
of entry the officials said to me "Well, it seems like you have the
wrong phots, I'm sure you won't be getting your greencard anytime soon
and will have to submit these (hands me a sheet of 3/4 specs)!!!"
Boy was he wrong, it turned up 3 weeks later.
Just to add my 2p: I filed when 3/4 photographs were the format. I had
my (successful) AOS on 18 Feb, and no new photos were required.
I personally think that maybe the person you dealt with was not going to
be made look wrong and so cited the "internal" memo story to make it
look like they had more info than you.
Mr. P's EAD pic. was also the one they took when they fingerprinted him
for EAD, etc. It wasn't one of the ones we sent in with the app.
They took the 3/4 shot. A great picture too! :)
my hubby got his green card in the mail a few weeks ago. He filed
while the 3/4 photos were still accepted. He was not asked for new
photos at his interview, so his green card has the 3/4 photo on it.
Ohhhh, you mean they took a 3/4 shot of him at his biometrics?
Now I see. :)
Or of course, you could get sent back down the ASC like I did, because
when they went to generate the card, my picture didn't appear in the
system even though it clearly stated that I had my biometrics in
november 2003. I had a new picture and fingerprint taken that afternoon
and got my card 8 days after the interview. Of course, now I have
recieved 3 letters from the INS stating that I need to make an infopass
appointment to get my picture taken so they can generate the card that I
already have!.
