Is there anyway I can help my family with my immigration status?

Question:
I am a US permanent resident who can become a US citizen in 3 years (hopefully). I like to bring my brother (31 Y.O. , married) or niece here to US to live. Anyway i can help them with my immigration status?.

Answer:
In short, no. The long version is as an LPR you can only sponsor your spouse or child. However, as a citizen you will be able to sponsor your brother. He falls into the last category of preference which by some estimates is a 12 year wait. I say again, twelve years to get a green card. Here is a link: http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/services/residency/family.htm#anc... Here is another link: http://travel.state.gov/visa_bulletin.html Scroll down to the table for Priority dates for family based immigrant visas. The 4th category has Mar 8th, 1991.

That means they are giving out visas to people to applied before that date. Hence, 12 years. Since your citizenship is 3 years away, your brother is looking at a 15 year waiting period.
