Question:
Well....my father has generously
offered to pay for the services
of a good immigration lawyer. We
are in the Vancouver, B.C. area
and will be looking for a good Canada--U.S.
immigration lawyer. Does anyone
have any recommendations, hopefully
through personal experience?
Answer:
On what basis are you immigrating?
and do you have any complications
in your case? If it's I-130 or K1
and you don't have any complications
such as child custody problems or
prior criminal convictions, then
it is my opinion that a lawyer is
a waste of money and can sometimes
lead to delays or incorrect filing
of forms.
Maybe you
could convince your father to pay
your filing fees through the process
instead I see your dilemma....but
can't help you unfortunately Sadly
the only reports about any immigration
lawyer involvement that I've heard
about have not been good, from filing
the wrong docs to incomplete and
missing info to requests for further
information (which to me should
not happen if you are paying someone
to help you file this petition)
and even sending applications to
the wrong place! But I can understand
why you feel the need for some clarification
in your situation!
