Question:
Could someone please point me in
the direction of a FAQ or web site
that has details regarding working,
and staying in the UK for a New
Zealander. Also earnings and the
tax system.
Answer:
For general information on the most
common means of admission to the
UK (both permanent and temporary
residency) see the websites below.
Much of the information refers to
people of any nationality, but there
are two special concessions for
certain categories of Commonwealth
citizens.
One is that
if they are within a certain age
range they may come to the UK on
a working holiday: this does not
lead to permanent residence. The
second is that if they have a parent
or grandparent born in the UK (including
Ireland when it was part of the
UK), they may come to the UK to
live and work without requiring
a work permit. (Incidentally anyone
with a grandparent born in a small
number of European countries, including
Ireland, is entitled to citizenship
of that country which then confers
the right to live and work in the
UK due to European Union regulations).

As far as I know, this refers to
the area that is now the Republic
of Ireland before the 31 March 1922.
Northern Ireland is of course part
of the UK still.
