Question:
Does anybody have immigration statistics
for Germany? What I would like to
know is the number of immigrants admitted
to Germany per year or immigration
quota per year if any. Any reply is
highly appreciated. It will help if
somebody can name more appropriate
group if any.
Answer:
Sorry that I don't have a statistics, but I remember the numbers as follows:
Immigration of ethnic Germans from the former Soviet Union:
about 200.000 a year (the number was even higher in the early nineties)
Immigration of citizens from the European community:
unknown to me (these immigrants don't need a permit)
Refugees who seek political asylum, including family members:
about 140.000 a year (the number of those who came in was much higher
before the new laws of asylum were passed)
-> most of those will stay in Germany
Refugees from the former Yugoslavia:
around 600.000 (?) stay in Germany (does anyone have the correct number?)
-> it is unclear whether many of them can return
To sum it up, Germany had an yearly influx of between 400.000 and 800.000
in the years from 1990 until now.
And this without an immigration law.
