Question:
i have a wife that lives outside of the U.S. and she isn`t a U.S.
Citizen. she wants to travel here to meet my family and stay here for 30
days but i don`t know what she needs to enter the U.S. . I have heard
she needs a immigration visa and other people say she needs a tourist
visa which is better for her?
Answer:
The two types of visa's you mention explain themselves. Basically, a
visitor's visa is used to visit and then to return home. An immigration
visa is used to immigrate to the U.S. and take up residence. She needs a
visitor's visa, and how to go about getting one depends on where she is
from. Keep in mind that if you are a U.S. Citizen, and she is your wife,
convincing the visa people that she is just coming to visit is probably
going to be difficult. That brings me to ask you why your wife lives
outside the U.S. and you have not filed a petition to bring her here...and
also your opening sentence..."I have A wife..."? Does that mean you have
more than one??
Also, the basis of News Groups is that all the replies, unless very
personal, should be posted here so that others may learn too.
The best thing for you would be to get tourist visa for her, cause that is
the easiest way.
She will probably be denied a tourist visa because she has such strong
permanent connections to the US.
Call a lawyer- your wife is worth it.
