Most of the Jews in the former-Soviet states already immigrated to
Israel hence the number of Olim from these states is getting smaller
and smaller each year.
After a 23% drop in the number of Olim in 2002 compared to 2001,
mostly because of a sharp drop in the number of Olim from Russia and
Ukraine, Jewish immigration to Israel is in a strengthening trend on
2003.
On the coming wednesday the Ministry of Immigration Absorption will
have to receive 500 Olim in one day. 300 of them will come from the
US, and 68 from France.
Argentina and France are from where the Aliyah is been growing
substantially replacing the Aliyah from Russia.
On 2002: (33.5 thousands new Olim)
55% of the immigrants came from Russia and Ukraine. (~45% drop)
18% from Argentina (~300% rise)
8% from Ethiopia
6% from France (~100% rise)
4.5% from the US
Olim from Russia/Ukraine prefer to live in Haifa, Be'er Sheva and
Ashkelon
Olim from Ethiopia - mostly Be'er Sheva
Argentina - mostly Ra'anana and Be'er Sheva
Olim from US and France prefer to live in Jerusalem.

Emigration from Israel is insignificant.
Since the 90's alone more the million immigrants arrived to Israel.
Israel's population today is only 6.3 million people, but it was less
than 5 million before 1990. Most of the growth was due to immigration.
Departures and Returns of Israeli residents remaining abroad for more
than a year:

There are approximatly 6-10 thousands more Departures than Returns per
year but these were the happy high tech years and many Israelis left
to work in the US.
Immigration in the same years were 60-80 thousands immigrants per
year.

Très intéressante évolution. Je regrette un peu que l'Europe et l'Amérique,
les deux sources d'immigration les plus importantes, ne soient pas
distinctes.
C'est très précis, cette fois. Merci encore.
