Hong Kong airport to Shenzhen?
Question:

What is the simplest and fastest way to get to Shenzhen from Hong Kong airport (if possible without going through Hong Kong immigration) ?

Answer:

Bus. There is a group of bus ticket counters just opposite the McDonalds on the lower level of the airport (you have to go thru immigration and customs first). You can buy bus tickets to various parts of China.

Bus drives to China emigration point, walk out with all your luggage, queue up, get through China emigration, walk with luggage to new bus (wait for some time until it leaves). New bus drives to Hong Kong immigration, walk out with luggage, queue up, pass through body scan thermometer to check if you have bird flu, get through immigration counter, walk out with luggage to bus Nr. 3, wait for some time until it leaves.

The ferry would be an option, but I would arrive in Hong Kong at 7:25pm, too late for the last ferry to Shekou at 7:30pm.

I wonder if it would be a better idea to fly to Guangzhou (I'll be arriving from Bangkok, and Thai flies to both HK and Guangzhou), and from there take the express bus which apparently takes only 1 1/2 hours.

Another option would be to spend the night in HK and get to Shenzhen the next day.

Shenzhen has its own airport. If you have the option why not just fly there direct?

Because Thai does not fly to Shenzhen. They fly to Guangzhou or Hong Kong, but not Shenzhen. I'll be arriving from Munich, transit in BKK and from there proceed to either HK or Guangzhou.

Then you should fly to Guangzhou if you are concerned about going thru two immigration and custom procedures.

I don't know if there is a bus from Guangzhou airport to Shenzhen. I'd be surprised if there isn't one. In any event you can take the train to Shenzhen.

Have a look at the HKIA and Shenzhen airport websites for transportation options to Shenzhen airport. Reportedly, you can do the ferry without going through HK customs (45 minute ferry to Fuyong plus a short run on a shuttle bus), but I've never tried it.
