Passport Renewal Information and Landing Question

Question:
I've my completed my medical exam and I waiting for my Landing papers. I was wondering If I renew my passport after receiving the landing papers, can I still use the landing papers with the renewed passport to land in Canada or do I need to send my landing papers back to to RPC buffalo with the renewed passport information?

Answer:
Your passport number is listed on your landing papers and this is normally checked the first time that you arrive in Canada and present your immigrant visa. If you do not have to renew your passport before you land, then I would not. If you do change your passport before you land there have been two options posted here in the past:

1. Return your visa to the office that issued them with a note that your passport has been renewed. Include a copy of the new passport's information page with the number. The downside to this is that you have to send the papers back into the bureaucracy; or

2. When you land, present your new passport and your old passport along with your immigrant visa. It has been said that a change like this can be made by the immigration officer that admits you.
