Question:
Replacement Green Card?
Answer:
Earlier in the year, I lost my wallet which contained my Permanent
Residency Card.
In June, I applied for a replacement card, but never received a receipt
letter.
In July, I received a letter for my fingerprint appointment.
In August, new fingerprints and pictures were taken. This was the time
my employer started to demand to see my Permanent Residency Card.
In September, I tried getting a state ID card to use in conjunction with
my SS card to satisfy I-9 requirements, but DMV won't issue me with an
ID card without my Permanent Residency Card.
In October I called the USCIS and found that my application was 60 days
overdue. In visited the USCIS office in L.A. and was told my card would
arrive any day now and to just be patient.
It's now November 16, my card is now more than 90 days overdue.
Is there anything else I can do to speed this up? What pisses me off the
most is that in February, I have to start the process to remove
conditional status!
Sorry, I don't have anything to say about having lost your wallet,
but if you hadn't, wouldn't you still need to remove your conditions
in February?
Of course, but it's annoying that I have to pay $200 for a replacement
Residency Card, and by the time it arrives, I'll be in the process of
paying another fee for the filing of removal of conditional status. I'd
like to enjoy such an expensive new card for just a few weeks before it
becomes redundant.
Damn that's a bummer... and it's not even the type of card that comes
with any credit... just a piece of plastic, worth nothing to anyone else
but worth a lot of 'money' to you!
